In this technique class, you will learn about the different materials and tools used for stringing beads. This will include the use of SoftFlex and crimp beads, knotting between beads and applying bead tips, and attaching cord crimps and a clasp to leather cording. Class fee includes all materials. Each workshop meets once.

Crystal Lantern Necklace

Crystal Lantern Necklace

Enameling I

Enameling is the ancient technique of fusing glass to metal. In this class we will cover the physics of enamel, stages of fusing, sifting techniques and safety. We will then move on to layering techniques, including scraffito and stenciling.

Enameling I

Enameling II - Cloisonné

Cloisonné comes from the French word meaning compartments. Silver cloisonné wire is used to create a linear design on your piece. Enamel is then filled in around the wire work, layered and fired several times. The piece is then polished to a finish. In addition to learning this ancient technique, students will experiment with mixing colors and explore different ways of layering the enamels, which yields very interesting effects. At the end of the two-day workshop, each student will have created a beautiful, one of a kind pendant.

Findings... Make Your Own!

Fusing

Learn the basics of fusing fine silver, a simpler alternative to soldering. Due to the nature of fine silver, no chemicals are needed in this process. The class will begin with coiling rings and learning how to use a jeweler's saw. With these rings, you will practice fusing (with a butane torch) individual links and then learn how to make chain. Once links are made, they can be hammered or shaped however you like!

Kid's Wearable Art Camp

This is the perfect five day foray into the world of making beautiful, wearable art. From beading to printing to felting, Lynzee--an experienced children's art instructor--will teach an introduction to several techniques that allow for a playful experience of the creative process. Projects will include: intro to bead stringing and wire working techniques for jewelry, intro to print making, and intro to felting (both wet and dry). Peyote Stitch: An Exploration of Color

If you've ever wanted to venture into the world of working with seed beads, this is the perfect class for a beginner! We will study, discuss and identify a color palette to work with. We will be doing an introductory exploration of color theory and how that pertains to working with seed beads and design in general. Students will be creating a color wheel to take home and consult with for future work. This is a project class and our goal is for students to leave with a finished, wearable piece.
